The Difficulty of Asking

Asking is really difficult. The beauty of money is that it simplifies exchanges down to very simple, single event, contracts. I want this. You are offering it for that. Here. Ta. Thanks. And you are on your way. This means you can engage with strangers rather than putting in the hard work that building trust requires. It means we can engage with a wider variety of people. We don't have to tentatively engage, and gradually go deeper as we build a knowledge of how that person will react. We don't have to start being able to predict how they will respond. We don't have to be able to close our eyes and have conversations with people we know so well, their physical presence isn't required because they are a part of us. You can't ask things of strangers.
